Pokemon

Pokemon, a Quick Summary of the Franchise

Short for pocket monsters, Pokemon exists as a TV show, a trading card game,
video games and toys. The Pokemon themselves are creatures that live in the wild or
with their owner, also known as their trainer. The trainer’s goal is to catch them all. The
original Pokemon is a role-playing game based around building a small team of
monsters to battle other monsters in a quest to become the best. Pokemon are divided
into types, such as water and fire, each with different strengths. For example, to gain an
advantage over a Pokemon that cannot beat an opponent’s Charizard character
because of a weakness to fire, a player might substitute a water-based Pokemon. The
first reason why Pokemon is so popular is because of its mascot Pikachu. He is a little
yellow creature that has the ability to control lightning. The only words he says are "Pika
Pika". Many people find Pikachu adorable. Much fluffy
merchandise has been made about Pikachu and other cute Pokemon.
